Why Food Allergy Mums?
I set this site up after my son had a serious allergic reaction to peanuts in 2007. I visited a specialist who confirmed that he is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts (and now also kiwi). He is 6 years old now and carries two EpiPens with him at all times. I know from my own experience that it can be very frightening to watch your child have a severe reaction. You have to educate yourself very quickly to understand the implications that their allergies may have.
I felt that parents with children who have food allergies would benefit from a network hub to share their experiences. This website is here as a resource network for you and your family to find ways to manage your child's allergies effectively, to normalize the day to day and to support and educate one another.
I hope we can also raise awareness with wider family and friends, caterers and government about the endemic problem of food allergies.
Please enjoy exploring the site. I look forward to networking with you all in the future.
